Dr Freyer specialises in a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions including reflux, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, polyp surveillance, iron deficiency, swallowing disorders, gastrointestinal bleeding, and liver disease.
Dr Freyer graduated from Australian National University and undertook his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training in Sydney, Australia. He completed his Gastroenterology training at the New Zealand Liver Transplant Unit in Auckland and subsequently undertook an 18 month endoscopy fellowship at North Shore Hospital. Dr Freyer is a skilled and experienced endoscopist who performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy at both Waitemata Endoscopy and Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) Waitemata. He is employed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician at Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) Waitemata and has a keen interest in medical education, particularly in preparing candidates for internal medicine specialist exams.
