Associate Professor Walmsley's areas of expertise include the management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (including Chromoendoscopy for bowel cancer screening), Barrett's oesophagus (including Radio Frequency Ablation therapy, and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection) and Endoscopic UltraSound (EUS).

At Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) Waitemata he is involved in EUS, IBD, Nutritional Failure and Endoscopy Training Lead.
He is Chair of the Endoscopy Governance Group for New Zealand (EGGNZ).

Associate Professor Walmsley is a graduate of the University of Bristol, England and underwent specialty training in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine in the UK. His doctoral research is in inflammatory bowel disease, undertaken at the Royal Free Hospital, London and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

I am currently a member of the New Zealand Society of Gastroenterology.
